InterVarsity
When my friend Susan Park invited me to hear about her outreach to higher education students through InterVarsity, I easily recognized the need to give college and graduate students a sense of belonging. Consider how you too could support this effort that strives to shepherd them and remind them that they are fully known and loved by God. |
Mision de Caridad
There are many ways to support those who wait to cross our southern border. My husband and I decided to support Mision de Caridad for its specific focus of meeting the needs of women and children in order to have real impact on this small part of the world. |
Global Unites
Ever since Prashan De Visser, founder of Global Unites, spoke at our church last summer, I have been in awe of what this group is accomplishing worldwide to bring reconciliation to warring peoples. In 2018, Mr. De Visser was awarded the Commonwealth Point of Light award for his work. |
Child Sponsorship through World Vision
This fall my husband and I were convicted to sponsor a child in the Democratic Republic of the Congo through World Vision. Will our small monthly donation change the world? Probably not, but we hope through the aggregated efforts of many, we can bring hope to a few. Click here to learn how you can become part of this exciting work! |
Highrock Christmas Benefit Concert
In 2018, I had the privilege of singing in my church's Christmas Benefit Concert! Proceeds from the event benefited Food Link, a local non-profit that helps to provide free nutritious food options to low income residents in Arlington, MA. |
Community Cooks
Since 2016 my kids and I have been bringing a monthly sandwich dinner to tutoring groups that meet in Cambridge. We currently serve a group at a CPS elementary school. Check out Community Cooks to get involved in your local Boston community! |
Bread Delivery
Several times a year my husband volunteers to transport donated bread from local Panera stores to our church where the food is packaged and delivered to Arlington residents in fixed income housing. To get involved, check out this site. |
The Foster Box
A friend of mine helped start a non-profit that delivers needed goods to foster families. Cleaning out the basement? Considering donating your children's items to The Foster Box. |
World Vision's Global 6K for Water
World Vision estimates that, in the developing countries they serve, kids have to walk an average of 6K in order to access mainly dirty water. In 2017, 2018 and 2019 my family and I participated in World Vision's Walk for Water, walking that same distance in an effort to provide clean water to those kids. Click here to learn more. |
The Greater Boston Food Bank
For several years now, our family has hosted my husband's extended family for our annual "second" Christmas celebration. In addition to bringing fun gifts for our Yankee Swap exchange, starting in 2017 we asked each family member to also bring non-perishable items to donate to the Greater Boston Food Bank. We are excited about this new family tradition! |
